Easy Ways to Eliminate Fish Odor

How to eliminate fish odor when throwing fish away:

  • Freeze your fish. If your fish is past its freshness date, tossing it into the kitchen waste can is a super bad idea. Instead, toss it into the freezer until the day the garbage folks come to collect your trash.
  • Throw as little away in the first place. For whatever reason, a lot of people just assume fish can’t be eaten later as leftovers. But like any other meat, cooked fish can stay in your fridge for a couple of days and still be perfectly edible and delicious.

Got a little bit of uncooked fish sitting around and not sure what to do with it?

  • Why not use it to make a fish soup or creamy chowder?
  • If you have cooked fish leftovers, you can make tacos or sandwiches with it the next day.
  • If you have more salmon than you can eat, serving it up cold with some crackers or toast the following day makes for a perfect hors d’oeuvre.
