5 Signs You Might Want to Search for Another Job (3 of 3)

4. Cliques, exclusion and gossip

There’s nothing wrong with coworkers having stronger bonds with some colleagues versus with others; that’s just how human socialization works. On the other hand, if there is a particular group that seems to make everybody else feel alienated, the office environment is almost certainly a toxic one. When acting like a clique, these groups are more inclined to spread gossip or negativity that brings everybody else down.

5. Stifled growth

Think about when you first got hired. Did your boss give you sufficient training? Even if you feel you know your job pretty well, have there been opportunities to grow as an employee and take on new tasks? Does mentorship take place at your job? Ultimately, most people want to advance in their careers and that starts with an office culture that promotes learning. If it is obvious that the company or organization you work for offers none of these things, the only good solution is to find a workplace where they help you achieve your aspirations.
