Can Aspirin Really Help You Regrow Your Hair? (3 of 4)

Could Aspirin Help With Dandruff?

Aspirin is not a patented dandruff treatment, but a proper salicylic acid shampoo may help loosen those nasty dead flakes and remove excess scaling. This can leave the scalp feeling cleaner and may allow other hair treatments to do their job better.

Stubborn dandruff can have several possible causes, and salicylic acid almost exclusively helps fight scaling. But it does nothing to address the yeast and inflammation. That is why some medicated shampoos combine exfoliating ingredients with antifungal treatments. However, there is still no direct evidence linking crushed aspirin to stimulating hair growth.

What Are the Risks?

On the most basic level, applying crushed aspirin to the scalp can cause dryness, redness, stinging, or irritation, especially on sensitive, scratched, or already inflamed skin, not to mention all the potential allergic reactions in people who are sensitive to aspirin.

Homemade mixtures are basically a crapshoot, as there is no standardized aspirin concentration. Leaving the crushed bits on the scalp for several minutes does not guarantee better results and may actually create more irritation.
