Vitamin C Serum: Should it Be Part of Your Skincare Routine? (3 of 3)

How to get the most out of Vitamin C serum

Use it alongside sunscreen. We recommend using a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher when the sun is out. This maximizes the brightening effects of the serum and provides additional protection against harmful UV rays.

Apply vitamin E or Ferulic Acid as well. For even more protection and brightening effects, using other serums that include vitamin E or Ferulic Acid can help stabilize the vitamin C and enhance UV protection. If you’re looking to boost hydration and reduce irritation, you could opt for hyaluronic acid.

Know what not to mix it with. Avoid pairing with AHAs, BHAs, benzoyl peroxide, copper peptides, or soap-based cleansers, as these are highly active. In addition to reducing the effectiveness of the serum, it can irritate the skin.

Store in a cool, dark place. Never store the serum in transparent packaging, and always seal the cap tightly. Keep it away from direct heat and sunlight. We recommend keeping it in the fridge (especially if you live in a warmer climate) since it will increase its shelf life and prevent oxidation.

Use on a daily basis. It works best on dry, clean skin, and preferably in the morning. Pair with a moisturizer and sunscreen for maximum benefits.

Use consistently and be patient. You aren’t going to see results overnight. It usually takes a few weeks before you notice improvements, but you will as long as you stick with the routine and keep your skin well-exfoliated.
