4. Michelangelo’s David
Sculpting is hard, and Michelangelo is arguably the greatest artist of the Renaissance, but that’s not going to stop us from knocking him down a peg or three! David’s head appears slightly oversized, a possible result of the artist’s intention to create a sense of grandeur and dominance. Additionally, there’s a muscle missing on his back. Unacceptable, we say!
5. “Bar in the Folies Bergere” by Édouard Manet
Depicting a scene in the Folies Bergère, a popular Parisian entertainment venue, the painting is celebrated for its innovative composition and thought-provoking elements. The artwork captures a barmaid, a reflection of her in a mirror, and various patrons. Notably, the reflection doesn’t align with the actual spatial arrangement, inviting interpretations about perception and reality. That “flaw” was probably intentional, but we’re going to roll our eyes at his ineptitude anyway.
