5. Never buy knock-offs

It’s one thing to be frugal, but it’s downright embarrassing to buy knock-off designer clothes. First of all, you wouldn’t be fooling anybody. Secondly, knock-offs feature some of the worst quality materials since the company is bound to be shady. There’s no shame in modest, reasonably priced brand apparel.

6. Be aware that dark colors fade

You might like wearing clothes that consist of darker colors but be warned: after a few washing cycles, you’ll notice the colors have faded significantly. For this reason, it’s best to go with lighter colors such as whites and creams.

7. Maintain your clothes (even if the designer isn’t world-class)

It is important to maintain your clothing even if you shop on a budget. Loose threads, missing buttons, and shoes with scuffle marks are never acceptable. If you owned luxury brand clothing, you’d make sure it was in proper order, right? You need to have the same attitude even if you buy your outfits at Target or Old Navy. Not only will you look better, but your clothes will also last longer.
